Schileens Pub

Overview

Walking into Schileens Pub feels like stepping into a neighborhood tradition that never tried to be trendy and never needed to. Sitting at 32 Delsea Dr, Westville, NJ 08093, United States, this place has the easy confidence of a diner-style pub that knows exactly what it does well. I’ve stopped here more times than I can count, usually after a long day when comfort food matters more than presentation, and the experience has been remarkably consistent in the best way possible.

The menu leans heavily into classic pub favorites, and that’s where its strength lies. Burgers arrive juicy and cooked the way you actually asked for, wings are crisp without being dry, and the cheesesteaks hit that balance of soft bread and seasoned meat that’s surprisingly hard to find. On one visit, I watched a short-order cook manage three tickets at once without missing a beat, flipping burgers while calling out sides-an old-school process that still works because it’s been practiced for years. That kind of rhythm doesn’t happen by accident; it comes from experience and repetition.

Portion sizes are generous, which lines up with broader industry data from the National Restaurant Association showing that diners consistently rank value and portion satisfaction among their top decision-making factors. You feel that understanding here. The kitchen doesn’t rush plates out half-finished, even during busy hours, and that patience shows in the final result. Fries stay hot, sauces are balanced, and nothing tastes like it came out of a freezer five minutes ago.

The bar area plays a big role in the atmosphere. Regulars tend to gather early, swapping stories over drafts while the TVs quietly cover local games. Reviews often mention the friendly bartenders, and from personal experience, that reputation is earned. On one visit, I overheard a bartender walking a first-time guest through beer options with the ease of someone who actually drinks what they serve. That kind of trust-building matters, especially in casual dining, where comfort and familiarity drive repeat visits.

Cleanliness is another point worth noting. According to CDC food safety guidance, consistent sanitation practices are one of the strongest indicators of a well-run food service operation. Tables are wiped promptly, restrooms are maintained, and the open layout makes it easy to see that the staff takes hygiene seriously. While no restaurant is perfect, I’ve never encountered anything here that raised concerns, which builds long-term trust.

The location itself is practical and accessible, especially for locals who don’t want to battle city traffic for a good meal. Parking is straightforward, and the surrounding area feels familiar rather than commercial. That sense of place shows up in customer reviews, many of which describe it as a go-to spot rather than a special-occasion destination. That’s not a weakness-it’s the point. Not every restaurant needs to reinvent dining; some just need to deliver reliably.

One limitation worth mentioning is that the menu doesn’t change often. If you’re someone who chases seasonal specials or experimental flavors, you might find the selection predictable. That said, predictability is exactly why many people keep coming back. You know what you’re getting, and more often than not, it’s exactly what you wanted.

What stands out most is how naturally everything fits together-the food, the service, the setting. There’s no forced charm, no scripted friendliness. It feels earned. From the way orders are handled to how regulars are greeted by name, the experience reflects years of practical knowledge about what keeps a local diner-style pub alive. That kind of consistency is rare, and it’s why this spot continues to show up in conversations, recommendations, and honest reviews from people who value substance over hype.

Best fries ever! The guys were very friendly. We had a wonderful time (twice). Did i write that you get the best fries there?

I've been coming to this bar for many years and definitely one of my favorite spots in Westville to come for food and drinks. The atmosphere is always welcoming. The staff is very friendly and attentive to their customers. I love going there on Mondays for half off wings and trivia night which is good time. ST. PATRICK'S DAY at Schileens is a blast. I'm going to miss this place when I move away but I will be back to visit. :) Also try their Honey Hot or Garlic Parm wings if you haven't done so yet!

Another awesome review for Schileens Pub in Westville!!!! My parents and I took my sister today for lunch to celebrate her birthday! It was my mom and sisters first time eating there, definitely won't be their last! We all studied the menu online before going and still stared at it once we got there, because there's so many options and everything sounded so good!! I got the buffalo chicken wrap with fries, brought half home with me for later. Their buffalo sauce is delicious with a little kick, I've had their wings before with their buffalo sauce, I knew it'd be good!! Dad is waiting on getting his teeth implants put in so he didn't have as many options as the rest of us, he decided on their chili. Another winner! Mom was debating between a turkey club or a bacon cheeseburger and our server suggested the burger. My mom said it was very good, cooked to a perfect med well, just a little pink. Fries were nice and crispy too! The birthday girl went with the open faced Reuben sandwich with Swiss, sauerkraut and she also asked for a side of coleslaw to add. She took home half and said she'd 100% order that same sandwich ( and tater tots) again. We started off with the fried green beans because we will try them at any place that has them, with ranch and horseradish sauce to dip, so good! Our server brought out a warm brownie with whipped cream and a sparkler as a surprise to my sister for her birthday, it was very nice and appreciated Great lunch, I was surprised at how many people were in there at noon on a Friday , but it just goes to show that everyone loves Schilleens!!!!!

Great bar food, good service, fun music. We had the wings which are one of the best in SJ! The sauce is delicious! Fried green beans were delicious as well. They are known for their roast beef and pork sandwiches, will have to try next time. Drinks were reasonably priced.
